Child Development Associate Certificate
DESCRIPTION
CDAs instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for primary school in preschool, day care center, or other child development facility.
SKILLS
CDAs will teach children up to five years of age, providing materials and resources for children to explore. CDAs will need to demonstrate activities for the children, which will include preparing class activities, observing and evaluating children’s performance. CDAs will also read books to entire classes or small groups and teach basic skills such as health, social development, personal hygiene, and good behavior.
CAREER OUTLOOK
CDAs are in moderate demand, as an expected 5800 jobs will be available as a child development associate statewide. CDAs can expect to make anywhere between $17,920 and $38,000 yearly.
To be eligible for the Non Formal CDA Course, applicants must:
- Be a resident of Indiana who is at least 18 years of age.
- Be employed in a licensed, registered, or certified early care and education setting working 25+ hours/week in Indiana for at least 6 months.
- Earn $20.00/hour or less as a teacher/teacher assistant or director/administrator.
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSE)
