About Blue River Adult Education

Blue River Career Programs (BRCP), was formed in 1972 in response to the needs of the community to prepare students for current and emerging careers. The Adult Education Department serves Johnson, Marion, and Shelby counties. Services include adult education (AE) and literacy activities, High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, English Language Learner (ELL) instruction, and several certificated adult training programs. In addition, BRCP is an approved HSE testing site. Throughout its 40+ year history, the AE Department has endeavored to serve as a gateway and connector to resources in employment, education, and social services and provide the tools to support learners in creating positive changes in their lives. Collaborative education and training opportunities with community stakeholders continue to be the basis of our educational philosophy and efforts.

Funding is available for students to register for classes unless students prefer to self pay.  Cancellations will be refunded 100 percent up to 48 hours prior to start of the course. No refund will be given for cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the start of the course.

“How can you call yourself a free man when your weakness has brought you to this? If a man has in himself the soul of a slave will he not become one no matter what his birth, even as water seeks its level? If a man has within him the soul of a free man, will he not become respected and honored in his own city in spite of his misfortune?”
― George S. Clason, The Richest Man in Babylon
